Jon Bon Jovi may be a legendary rocker with years of success as both a musician and an actor, but he is also passionate about giving back to his community through the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation was founded in 2006 to bring about positive change by helping those in need—one soul at a time. In 2011, the JBJ Soul Kitchen Community Restaurant opened as part of the foundation; the goal of the restaurant is to offer high-quality food in a community environment where everyone can take part.
What you’ll find on the menu at JBJ Soul Kitchen are delicious American Regional style three-course meals, made with fresh, local ingredients. What you won’t find on the menus are prices. Everyone is welcome at the restaurant, and if the $10 suggested price per meal isn’t possible, patrons can volunteer their time in exchange for the meal. No matter how you enjoy your meal at the restaurant, the premise is the same—everyone is welcome for both a healthy, nutritious meal and the communal and inviting setting.
Those choosing to volunteer in exchange for their meal can help in a variety of ways—helping to prepare food, doing dishes, cleaning, busing tables, and stocking shelves. Volunteer opportunities are also available for those who’d like to help as part of the kitchen staff. Kitchen staff volunteers provide their culinary talents to help feed those in need.
Sal Taddeo is an avid volunteer who is always looking for new opportunities to help those in need. He is in the process of becoming a chef volunteer for JBJ Soul Kitchen, where he can provide his culinary talents along with his passion for giving back to his community.
